NEPE takes pride in the fact that our programs are not only entertaining, but full of valid content which educates and enlightens our audiences. After our presentations we frequently receive comments such as, “awesome,” “outstanding,” and “the best.”
Kerry Kaplon, principal of Proctor Elementary School in Topsfield, MA, expressed his thoughts by writing,
Curriculum Enhancement Many schools develop a theme or educational goal to follow during the year. Our programs are used in support of the school’s overall educational objective. In this manner we become a partner to the school’s efforts. Some of the curriculum themes which we have enhanced have included:
Realizing the value of the arts in a well rounded education many schools expose their students to music by presenting the four different families of musical instruments – the brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion. Oft times they’ll bring in a brass group one year, followed by a woodwind demonstration the following year. NEPE will fill the niche for the percussion family of instruments.
Part of a healthy school curriculum is to provide youngsters with experiences to make them feel good about themselves. This is all
part of the learning and growing process – development of healthy attitudes and self-esteem. After experiencing and participating in our
programs kids leave happy, energized and enthused.
Academics Our main program, “Language of the Ancients,” demonstrates that music is certainly a language, an ancient one at that. It is one of the many forms of human communication which can convey messages and information, and solicit response. Just as you can read the printed page we can read the printed language of music by understanding its symbols; and just as you can improvise your spoken language we can also use the tools of music to improvise and create it on the spot.
Our programs also weave in a thread of math, science and history in a way which creates deeper understanding among our audience members and gives them better appreciation for what they learn in the classroom.
We manage to pack a tremendous amount of information into a fifty-minute presentation. |
